Bathroom Items
Here are some of the products I put in place in my bathroom for mama. As mentioned previously, they worked until they didn't and I had to adjust.

There are more tips at the bottom, but always remove clutter. Keep it simple.

Bright Toilet Seats: As dementia progresses, white toilet seats can blend in with the surroundings, making it difficult for your loved one to see and use the toilet correctly. A bright-colored toilet seat can help distinguish the toilet from other objects, like a basic chair. The red one worked well for a bit. For some, this may not work and eventually either you or your carer will have to guide your PWD to the bathroom and sit them down.

NOTE: Green and blue are also recommended for someone with dementia. For Mama, green signified grass (she was an avid gardener), and blue represented water. Therefore, consider using these colors, but see what works best for you

Standard Plus Toilet Seat - Alz product UK store - comes comes in a choice of 3 distinctive colours, both provide contrast alongside the whites of a bathroom or toilet.

Check size and style before you buy.

Red Round Toilet Seat Natural Wood Toilet Seat - USA: make sure you choose the correct one as they come in round or Elongated.
This one fits ROUND toilet seats.

Check size and style before you buy.

Adjustable Toilet Safety Rails, Toilet Bar for Elderly Adults - there are a lot of these on the market for the elderly and they are ideal for anyone with mobility issues.

Check size and style before you buy.

Raised Toilet Seat with Handles
this 4" raised toilet seat with handles is ideal for people with difficulties to sit down or get up from the toilet, people with hip or knee pain as well as people with reduced mobility

Check size and style before you buy.

RED Toilet Frame with Seat. Got a 2 in 1 here from the Alz Products store - RED and with a frame. It's pricey, but if it works - ideal. Some of my contacts had great luck with this one. Alternatively, I purchased the red toilet seat and separate grab bars as i could use those in other areas.

Check size and style before you buy.

Grab Rails
I actually have a separate page for grab rails. They became invaluable!
I had a lot of glass doors, which is why I mostly invested in the 'no drilling' grips. However, you can also purchase the style that you drill into walls. (I did use the drill type for the garage walls)

The suction grab rails must be checked regularly. Please, please ensure they are secure or have someone else check them (if you are long-distance) to prevent them from coming loose. I typed up a schedule for the carers to check every day that they came into the house.

Shower Chairs for Elderly, Wide Frame Shower Stool with Anti-Skid Rubber Feet

Shower Chair: Ensure a shower chair is available, and remember that assistance is necessary during showers. I would never let mama use this alone since this was not a historical routine. I'd tell her I fancied up the shower and now we had a chair to sit on.

Other of my bathroom products:

No Rinse Shampoo Caps: There are many sellers, but this is the one I purchased. What are these and why? Dementia—that's why (for my purchase). Showering will become difficult. They may not like the feel of water on their head, and then you get desperate and don’t know what to do. So, you take this microwaveable cap, make sure it’s not too hot, then place it over their head, massage gently, remove it, and towel dry gently. Clean hair!

Full Body Cleansing Wet Wipes For Adults: These came in handy in between showers. Your loved one may need help. I'd make sure to be there or have a carer present so that they do not get flushed.

Urifunnel. I have not used this personally for mama. However for any male individual that uses it, will reduce the splatter. Pretty genius.

Labels on Shower Taps/Faucets: Clearly labeled the hot and cold taps to avoid confusion and potential accidents. This can be done easily with a label maker OR red ribbon - I tied red ribbon around the HOT button.

Motion Touchless Sink Faucets: These faucets automatically turn on and off, preventing your loved one from accidentally leaving the water running and causing a flood. I lowered the temp of the water so that it wouldn't scald.

Sink Blockers: Installed sink blockers to prevent water overflow in case the tap is left on.

Toilet Paper: Always kept extra toilet paper within easy reach. I purchased a free standing toilet paper holder for extras.

Handle Grips (see above): Installed handle grips on all doors, especially in the shower and bath areas, to provide extra support and prevent falls. I installed these everywhere. Check regularly to ensure stability!

Plug Socket Covers: More for the USA than UK. UK bathroom have no plug sockets.

Bright towels: Again, same as toilet seat. Bright towels that don't blend with walls. Maybe some with bright designs.

I removed any rugs or mats that could become tripping hazards. Anything sharp (like scissors, anything with razor blades, and even ear buds). Remove anything that can clog the toilet.
USA: No electrical items (like hair dryer, shavers, etc.)

Have you used any of these? What did you think? Are there others you think work better? Add in the comments below.
